*~Good Day ~*

I am delighted to have the opportunity to
talk with you

When I was a little girl I used to live
with my great grandfather.

He was a master story teller.

And he used to tell me that legends were about
ordinary people who had done extra ordinary things.

Today we shall discover how animals and
birds were used as guides in teaching Indian
children by their Elders

As the Great Spirit listened he noticed
that the birds appeared to be listening too.

Then the great thought came to him.

That is what is missing!!
The birds too should sing

Next day when the sun had come, the Great
Spirit called a great council of all the birds.

The sun was hidden by the flight of so many.

They perched on the trees and buches and
they surrounded him on the great councel
rock where the Great Spirit waited.

When the air was filled with a great silence
the Great Spirit spoke.

I have called this councel to know if you
would like to sing as do my Indian people?

Each one can have his own song and the
songs will be sweetest.

For those who strive the hardest for
all must work hard to posses things which
is lovely only through work can we gain
that which is good.

Do you wish for song?

The excited tweetering of the great chorus
of birds as they said Oh yes OH yes ,
pleased the Great Spirit.

So be it!

Tomorrow when the sun rises in the East
you will all fly high into the sky.

Each one of you will fly as high as you
possibly can.

And when you reach as close to the sky
as your heart and wings will carry you.

You will find your song.

The bird which flies the highest will
have the most beautiful song of all.

And with these words the Great Spirit disappeared.

Today I hope you learned why animals
and birds were used as teachers.

It's very important that you learn to
love one another and help each other and
earn what we get out of life.
So the that world is a better place for
all of us to live in.

May the Great Spirit protect you, love
you, and keep you safe from harm
until we meet again..

Trouble no more about their religion;
respect others in their view,
and demand that they respect yours.

*~ Indian Serenity Prayer ~*

God, grant me the strength of eagles wings,
the faith and courage to fly to new heights,
and the wisdom to rely on his spirit to
carry me there.

*~ Native American Prayer for Peace ~*

Oh Great Spirit of our
Ancestors, I raise my pipe to you.
To your messengers the four winds, and
to Mother Earth who provides for your children.

Give us the wisdom to teach our children
to love, to respect, and to be kind to
each other so that they may grow with peace
of mind.

Let us learn to share all good things that
you provide for us on this Earth.

Chief Yellow Hawk

*~ Great Spirit Prayer ~*

Great Spirit, Great Spirit, My Grandfather,
All over the earth the faces of living things
are all alike. . .

Look upon these faces of children without
number and with children in their arms,
That they may face the winds and
Walk the good road to the day of quiet.

There is no death. . .
Only a change of worlds. . .
Only a change of worlds.

*~ Traditional Native American Prayer ~*

O Great Spirit,

whose voice I hear in the winds,
and whose breath gives life to all the
world -hear me-

I come before you, one of your children.
I am small and weak.

I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes
ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things you
have made.

My ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make me wise, so that I may know the
things you have taught my People.

The lessons you have hidden in every
leaf and rock.
I seek strength not to be superior to
my brothers, but to be able to fight
my greatest enemy, myself.

Make me ever ready to come to you,
with clean hands and straight eyes,
so when life fades as a fading sunset,
my spirit may come to you without shame.

*~ Aztec Prayer ~*

Lord most giving and resourceful.

I implore you;

Make it your will that this people
enjoy the goods and riches you
naturally give, that naturally issue
from you, that are pleasing and savory,
that delight and comfort,though
lasting but briefly, passing away
as if in a dream.

*~ PRAYER TO A DEAD BUCK ~*

In the future that we may continue
to hold each other with the turquoise hand.

Therefore I ask for this luck that
I may continue to have good luck in
hunting you

*~ Hymn to the Sun ~*

Praised be my Lord God with all His
creatures; and specially our brother
the sun, who brings us the day.

Praised be my Lord for our sister
the moon, and for the stars, the
which He has set clear and lovely
in heaven.

Praised be my Lord for our brother
the wind, and for air and cloud,
calms and all weather, by the which
Thou upholdest in life all creatures. .

Praised be Thy Lord for our brother
fire, through whom Thou givest us
light in the darkness;

Praised be my Lord for our mother the
earth, the which doth sustain us and
keep us and bringeth forth divers fruits,
and flowers of many colours, and grass.

Praised be my Lord for all those who
pardon one another for His love's sake,
and who endure weakness and tribulation;
blessed are they who peaceably shall
endure, for Thou, 0 most Highest,
shalt give them a crown!

Amen.

*~ SIOUX ~*

Oh Great Spirit, Our Father, help
us and teach us in the way of the truth;
and keep me and my family and my tribe
on our true father's path, so that
we may be in good condition in our
minds and in our bodies.

Teach all of the little ones in Your Way.
Make peace on all the world.
We thank you for the sun and the good
summer weather again; and we hope they
will bring good crops of grass for
the animals and things to eat for all peoples.
